New Liao Mech Company ready for Alpha Strike
So Wednesday I'll have my second game of Alpha Strike, and to celebrate it I have a brand new company of Mechs. All twelve are from the new plastic boxes. Very easy to work with. 351 point total, but since my opponent has 450 I'll have to grade up my pilots.

Billy and a Fistful of Lead
With the Fistfull of Lead rules a big hit with some of the guys at Treefort, and after 4 very enjoyable games of the Magnificent Seven scenario it was time for something new. So as I painted up my Prison Wagon a new scenario took form.
Get Billy!: Billy has been picked up by the local Marshall and is being taken to a cell in San Miguel. But Billy has been sooo bad that everyone wants a piece of him.
Player 1: Marshall Eli, one tough man well known for paying his deputies a $1 and a kick a day
bringing in the prison wagon with 4 deputies.
Player 2: Deputy Rick, guarding the jail and keeping the peace in town. but guarding the jail is his favorite part of the job.
Players 3/4 Cowboys from Bishop's Double H Ranch. Seems Billy shot down Mr Bishop's new son in law and Mr Bishop has some branding in mine for Billy.
Players 5/6/7 The Three Amigos and their assorted Banditos, once they robbed a train with Billy, but sadly trusted Billy to hide the loot till things quieted down. Now they want their loot!
Player 8 The San Miguel Women's Suffragette League. Lead by Rev McCoy and Maggie May, they aim to make Billy honor his vow to little Sara Lee and her new baby girl
Player 9 Billy's brother Bart, a veteran of Missouri, who is bringing in his boys because 'No one's going to hang his little brother'
So the Marshall had to bring in the prison Wagon and get Billy to the jail.
Tough job.
So right off the bat, the Women's League shot down the Prison Wagon Driver. Then the Banditos decided to load up and empty wagon and pursue the prison Wagon in a high speed chase. Meanwhile the Cowhands decided to shoot up the jail and the Banditos, While Bart's men rode through town shooting deputies, cowhands and banditos at will. The Marshall, got the Prison Wagon off the main road and tried for a flanking maneuver right through the Suffragettes. Sharp rifle fire from the ladies had another deputy hightailing it out of town. Soon the Mexican wgaon over took the the Marshall's and in a series of fisticuffs another deputy went down and the wagon and Billy were now in the hands of The Three Amigos, but not for long as anther wave of shooting erupted form Bart, the Cowhands and the ladies. Soon only Bart was left standing near the Prison Wagon an inches away from victory. The group was tense as cards were handed out for the new turn, who would go first? There were plenty of itchy trigger fingers ready to bring down Bart. But A King of Spades gave Bart the first move and the game was over.
Gotta love it when the game comes down to the wire.

First Fistful of Lead game, Magnificent Seven
Ran across the Fistful of Lead rules last week, bought them, liked them and gathered a group to try the out this past Sunday. Laid out my town and decided that that I had enough figs for the Magnificent Seven scenario.
Big Success!
First game went very badly for the Seven, Second game went very badly for the Bandits.
Gathering for another game this Friday. I highly recommend the rules.

Bolt Action Russian Tank assault.
Been well over a year since we tried a big Bolt Action game. Last tine was the Pacific, this time somewhere ion the Eastern Front.
4500 points of Soviets run by Mike Steven and John vs 4500 points of Germans run by Glen, Eli and Coach.
Eli's force started at the entrenchment with about 5 feet of wire. Coach started some 30 inches back relaxing in the Russian huts and Glen (who's entire force was mobile) was off table in the R&R section.
All the Germans on the table started with a pin marker,to reflect the sudden Soviet bombardment that preempted the assault.
Soviet mission was to get a tank and infantry squad off the far end of the table, failing that to hold the majority of the table.
The Soviet steam roller got off to a good start panicking the Krauts with some lucky tank shots from the Latvian Rifles and some early assaults on the German emplacements. But old Steiner Eli, sporting his Iron Cross, refused to give an inch! Commissar Steven lead charge after charge while saturating the entrenchments with mg fire. But Old Stiener wouldn't budge. On the left Johnokov lead a wave of fresh recruits decimating Germans and trees alike. But Col Eric coolly formed a line on the ridge and rained all sorts of fire and extremely accurate artillery on those poor Russian farmboys. The Russian right advance to the half way point screened by Cossacks, But Panzer Col Glenn, arrived well ahead of schedule to block any possibility of advance. A well played German victory.

A little Neil Thomas rules Ancients today
Knocked out some 98 Romans these past two weeks, so that I could introduce Steven to the Neil Thomas rules. Easy to learn and play rules, helps keep us motivated to paint figs for the next big Clash of Empires game.
Romans Vs Carthage
Romans: 3 Hastati and 3 Princepes, 1 Triari (subbed with Greek Hoplites), 2 Velites , 1 Latin Cav,
Carthage: 3 African Veterans, 2 Gallic foot, 1 Gallic Cav, 1 Elephant, 1 Numidian Cav, 2 Light infantry
It was a very fun game. My Romans hammered the middle, but the old adage of newly painted troops performing badly their first time out seems to still be true. Dismal morale failure on the part of a couple of roman units. Steven almost had the game wrapped up for the Carthaginians , but finally some bad rolls on his part handed ma a very very slim Roman victory.
