Anniversay battle of Lepanto 2017

Well everyone showed up at Discover games, so we had 9 players and 114 ships.

Ottoman fleet smashed into the Spanish/Italian fleet  and had just started to turn the Christian left when their certer collapsed.

A win for the Westren Alliance! Going to have to adjust the gun factors just a bit for the next big game but overall I think the game mechanics worked very well.

Preparing for the anniversary of Lepanto.

Okay with only days left I've gone with a 1:5 ration of ships, so about 114 ships in all.
Added some of the Langton flags to give the ships a bit more flair.

72 ships so far, Goal is 150 by October 7th.

Lepanto again and Bigger this time!

It took a month of steady painting and a vacation day, but our 100+ galley game finally got played.
The rules were Christian Fire and Turkish Fury by David Manley, who ever so kindly sent me a PDF.
They are designed for Fleet action renaissance naval games, using a Fire and Fury type mechanic.
Everything is done by squadrons.
Bob Henderson brought his gorgeous Langton ships while I provided the many Navwar 1/1200 ships.
Game took about 2 hours with 7 players who had never played the rules before.
A Turkish Victory!

Lepanto 1/1200

Yesterday was the club's second game of Lepanto using the Laterna rules. Almost 80 ships in all. Once more it was a big win for the Holy League. We're going to tweak the rules a bit as we build for the third game in May. Should have about 130 ships by then. Bob, started all this with his purchase of exquisite Langton ships, was considering 1:1 as our final goal in ship numbers, but we decided on a 1:3 ratio.
