Billy and a Fistful of Lead

With the Fistfull of Lead rules a big hit with some of the guys at Treefort, and after 4 very enjoyable games of the Magnificent Seven scenario it was time for something new.  So as I painted up my Prison Wagon a new scenario took form.

Get Billy!: Billy has been picked up by the local Marshall and is being taken to a cell in San Miguel. But Billy has been sooo bad that everyone wants a piece of him.
Player 1: Marshall Eli, one tough man well known for paying his deputies a $1 and a kick a day
bringing in the prison wagon with 4 deputies.
Player 2: Deputy Rick,  guarding the jail and keeping the peace in town. but guarding the jail is his favorite part of the job.
Players 3/4 Cowboys from  Bishop's Double H Ranch. Seems Billy shot down Mr Bishop's new son in law and Mr Bishop has some branding in mine for Billy.
Players 5/6/7 The Three Amigos and their assorted Banditos, once they robbed a train with Billy, but sadly trusted Billy to hide the loot till things quieted down. Now they want their loot!
Player 8 The San Miguel Women's Suffragette League. Lead by Rev McCoy and Maggie May, they aim to make Billy honor his vow to little Sara Lee and her new baby girl
Player 9 Billy's brother Bart, a veteran of Missouri, who is bringing in his boys because 'No one's going to hang his little brother'

So the Marshall had to bring in the prison Wagon and get Billy to the jail.
Tough job.
So right off the bat, the Women's League shot down the Prison Wagon Driver.  Then the Banditos decided to load up and empty wagon and pursue the prison Wagon in a high speed chase. Meanwhile the Cowhands decided to shoot up the jail and the Banditos, While Bart's men rode through town shooting deputies, cowhands and banditos at will. The Marshall, got the Prison Wagon off the main road and tried for a flanking maneuver right through the Suffragettes. Sharp rifle fire from the ladies had another deputy hightailing it out of town. Soon the Mexican wgaon over took the the Marshall's and in a series of fisticuffs another deputy went down and the wagon and Billy were now in the hands of The Three Amigos, but not for long as anther wave of shooting erupted form Bart, the Cowhands and the ladies. Soon only Bart was left standing near the Prison Wagon an inches away from victory. The group was tense as cards were handed out for the new turn, who would go first? There were plenty of itchy trigger fingers ready to bring down Bart. But  A King of Spades gave Bart the  first move and the game was over.
Gotta love it when the game comes down to the wire.

First Fistful of Lead game, Magnificent Seven

Ran across the Fistful of Lead rules last week, bought them, liked them and gathered a group to try the out this past Sunday. Laid out my town and decided that that I had enough figs for the Magnificent Seven scenario.
Big Success!
First game went very badly for the Seven, Second game went very badly for the Bandits.
Gathering for another game this Friday. I highly recommend the rules.

Gone South! The Gold of the Sierras,Wild West Game

Down Mexico way, an old prospector had finally struck gold in an old abandoned mine from Aztec times. Unfortunately he was a bit to celebratory about his find and word got out to the local Mexican officials. In particular those loyal to the Republican cause against the Emperor Maximilian and his French bullies. So they kicked out the old prospector and took over the mine, after all the fight against tyranny needs cash!
So after months of digging a large cache of gold is ready for pickup.
A regular Mexican officer and a local leader of the militia have been dispatched to get the gold and take it to Juarez.
But, word of the mine has leaked out to the French, who have dispatched Capt Gerome to pick it up. However, Sgt Schultz of the Legion has decided that some of his Legionnaire friends need to 'help' the dear Capt. and his regulars.
Also on the way, is Cool Hand Eli along with Slim and Big John. All desperadoes from Arizona who have been listening to an old prospector.
But let us not leave out the Mexican Bandit Valdez, wanted by everyone for many many crimes. Who recently ambushed a load of dynamite that was heading for the mine.
Of course know one knows of the missing town folk and the small tremors in the area.

Cap Gerome to Sgt Schultz on his left, "Why are you running to the mine? The fight is this way!
Cool Hand and Valdez fight over the wagons of gold.

The legion snipes at the Juaristas

While Capt Gerome goes after the gold wagons as well.

Sgt Schultz arrives at the gold mine. It is mine all mine!

Suddenly out of the mine, horrors!

Great worms erupt from the ground.

The worms are attracted by the loud fire of the cannon.

And the fire of the gatling.
Get what gold we have and get out! A cry heard throughout the table.
With Worms and horrors everywhere, Valdez's last fighter cannot forget and old grudge against Cool Hand and lights the dynamite. But is shoot down and goes in a great blast that attract the worms.
Gamemaster Mike laughs! What did you expect it is October after all. And the 'Aztec Shrine' was an obvious clue!
Ah it was a great game! In the end Sgt Schultz and Cool Hand tied for the most Gold. Though the Jauristas had  preformed well as had Cap Gerome who feared no slimy worm! And the dreaded Valdez as usual had succeeded in raising Hell!

Maximillian in Mexico Old Houston's figs

Recently I saw the New Gringo 40 Belgians. A must for 2013 purchases! Well I have a lot of old Houston's Lyzards Grin Maximillian Range, and wouldn't mind filling out a few units. Turns out that The Virtual Armchair General will soon be re-releasing the range. A few gamers wondered about the scale difference and look of the figs. So here are some quick photos of a few of my figs and a few Perry/Foundry comparison shots. Sorry about the few fuzzy pics.
