Madness and 40K Again!?!?!??!?!

Okay, so at the behest of a co worker, I've started to pull out my old Ork army  to prep it for 7th ed 40K.

None Shall Pass! Terrain and defense for 6mm LaserStorm

Have I ever mentioned that I love doing terrain? Well I really love making and painting terrain! And any project that motivates me to make terrain is one that's going to get some play.

348th Brigade 'Crimson Fists' another force for LaserStorm

When work is eating up your time paint 6mm! Gathered up some more 6mm figs that have been gathering dust and put together the 348th Brigade 'Crimson Fists'. Grav tanks from the old FASA Renegade Legion game and some powered armored infantry from Battletech.

A return to 6mm SciFi with LaserStorm rules

Okay so it's not a complete return to 6mm SciFi since I do have AlphaStrike/Battletech forces. But I think LaserStorm may give me the feel of those old Epic 40k games. Lots of troops and destruction on the table.
So since we're going to try the rules next week, I decided to put together a new force. The 1st Samarkand.
Now, I know some people are going to notice the mix of scales, but I think the various pieces seem to work well together. Dystopian wars Blazing Suns armor, Battletech infantry, Heavy Gear fleet action mechs, and a MicroMachines Jawa vehicle as the big troop transport.

2nd Big Battle of Fantasy Empires, aka 15mm Kings of War

Yeah, we got the bug now, a small Bretonnian vs Lizardman battle on Saturday (Troy's Lizards whopped up on my Bretonnians) and then another Big Brutal Battle 6000 vs 6000 Orcs vs Dwarf/Elf alliance on Sunday.

Lizard WarBeasts for Kings of War

So Troy has been using his Martian Empires Lizardman army for our fantasy Kings of War games.
I felt he needed some suitable Beasts of War. So we went to a local hobby shop and picked up some nice dinosaurs.

15mm Kings of War

Yep, for years Rick and I had been toiling away on our 15mm Warmaster armies. But very few people seemed interested. Yesterday at Treefort we pulled out the 15mm figs and used them for King of War.
Suddenly everyone was coming over to see our table. Commenting on how many more figs you could get on the same size table. Ahh interest.
So for anyone interested. All our figs are based on 40mm wide x 30mm deep bases. (except the war machines) 2 bases side by side was a Troop. 4 bases (2 wide 2 deep) were a Regiment. 6 bases (3 wide 2 deep) were a Horde.  For Ogres, 4 bases was a horde.
Rick's High Elves and Dwarves, run by Allen  vs my Orcs  and Troy's Lizardmen. 6000 points per side!
We set up behind a screen, when revealed it was my Orcs facing the Elves and troy facing the dwarves.
So the battle soon came down to a race of who would turn who's first.
My orcs had to bear the brunt of a heavy Elf cavalry force and a huge amount of fire from bows, ballista and dwarf cannons. Troy's job was to overwhelm those stubborn dwarves as quickly as possible, i was also having to deal with 2 dragonlords.
Orc tactics are pretty simple, send the goblins in first to suck up missle fire and pin the foes in place. Thank Gork for goblin hordes, they can take a licking! But dragons is just hot playing fair!
The game lasted some 5 turns, in the end the Lizards had turned/destroyed the dwarf flank while the Elf flanking force had lost steam. In the center the Orc Hordes were finally getting into the melee and slowly forcing the Elves back. An Evil victory! Yea I know, troy keeps reminidng me that  the Lizardmen are 'neutral.

 It was a wonderful game! Already talk of a 6 player campaign as early as next month!

KoW Good vs Bad Kingdoms of Men

Finally got a game in against Allen's sinister Kingdom of Man. I say 'sinister' because of all the dark armour and the Werewolves. Allen built his army out of the old Confrontation prepaints, it looks pretty cool.
2500 points on an 8x5 ft table.
It was a very tough game, Artillery laying down some good fire for both of us. First 2 turns had me losing 2 units, both with magic items , and a horde of Werewolves determined to take my right flank.
My hope was to delay the wolves long enough to break Allens right.
It was touch and go until that fateful moment when my General managed to get that foot knight to waver with some magic. That one moment held up Allens force long enough for me to get my pikes in first.
Very Lucky!
All in all I managed to get some lucky artillery and xbow shots in and stall Allen on his left giving me time to finish off his right.
